Configuring TraceStations

What are TraceStations?

TraceStations provide a blueprint for how a form will look to your end users.

Why configure TraceStations?

Learning how to modify these TraceStations, as well as how to add attributes, will allow you to configure and maintain your forms to collect data in the most efficient way.

How to configure TraceStations

The following video creates a TraceStation in our QM (Quality Management) system. The process shown is essentially the same in our SM/SC system.

Step 1: Hover over the Configuration Icon and click TraceStations.

Step 2: Locate the TraceStation you’d like to edit and click the edit icon.

Step 3: You can now manage the sections and attributes of the TraceStation using the info below.

Parts of a TraceStation

  1. Section header - This is the section title.
  2. Editable - When this box is checked, the user can edit the field on the form. If unchecked, the field will be grayed out, and will not be editable.
  3. Visibility Dependencies (Cascading Sections/Attributes) - Show or hide sections and attributes of the TraceStation based on the value of another attribute in the same TraceStation. This is a way to create cascading fields dependent on other data fields.
  4. Label (When inline with an attribute)– Default is blank. Text in this field will override the attribute Name and will display the text instead on the form.
  5. Label (As a section header)– If you create a Labelled row with no Attribute ID or Name on the TraceStation, a user can use its Label field as a section header.
  6. Description- Use this field to enter a brief description of the use of this TraceStation. This will appear in the TraceStation, under the Label.
  7. Link to Global - On some TraceStations, just below the Section Header, you'll find a "Link to Global" text-link. When Linked to Global, the corresponding TraceStation section will be filled with the most updated Standard TraceGains Attributes available for that section. Note that using Link to Global means you will be unable to control most settings.
