Configuring Tab Views

What are tab views?

Tab Views are sets of attributes linked to one of the main tabs (Suppliers, Items Supplied, etc.) at the top of an Enterprise landing page after login. After tab views are created, you must assign them to individual roles (a set of individuals who use TraceGains for particular tasks). You can assign multiple roles to the same tab views so all roles have access to the same attributes, UDDs, and information.

By default, every role is assigned to an Enterprise tab view for your Documents, Items Supplied, and Suppliers tabs; generally, enterprise tab views give access to more attribute columns. If you need to create new views for different departments, you do so by configuring a new tab view.

If you’re stuck on which tab view to assign your new attribute to, the Enterprise View is always a good fallback.

Why configure tab views?

Tab Views give your company control over the information that each role has access to.

How to configure tab views

Before entering into and configuring a particular tab view, there are a couple features of note on the general configuration grid:
1. The TraceStations column: displays a count of how many TraceStations this tab view is acting on.
2. The Dashboards column: displays a count of how many User Defined Dashboards (UDDs) this tab view is acting on.

For both columns, when the value is greater than 0, a user with Read permissions can click the value to visit a grid with the corresponding information. For example, if a tab view exists on two UDDs, the number '2' in the column allows users to click on the link to open a list of the related UDDs (see above image).

Configuration Steps

Step 1: Hover over Configuration Icon and select Tab Views.

Step 2: Click the blue edit icon next to the tab view to modify.

Step 3: From here you can Add and/or Remove attributes as well as creating a new tab view.

In the Manage Tab View page, global attributes cannot be removed from this tab view. Attributes can also be quickly "renamed" in this menu, using attribute labels.
