What is a Configuration Workbook?

A Configuration Workbook is a spreadsheet made to get data into TraceGains. This spreadsheet is the most efficient way to get your data into TraceGains and is used for the initial implementation and major data updates.

 

Access the Configuration Workbook

Please note that different Configuration Workbooks are used for different products, so before beginning, make sure you have the correct one. If you’re unsure, contact your CSM for the correct Configuration Workbook. Otherwise, the Configuration Workbook is available to download from your TraceGains site.

Step 1: Click or hover over the Configuration Icon.

Step 2: Click 'Config Workbooks' under Site Tools.

If you do not have this option, it will need to be updated under Config>Roles. Contact your System Administrator for further assistance.

 

General Navigation/Completing the Workbook

Each workbook has several tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet that are built to import different types of data. Configuration Workbooks also contain examples of how to accurately input data, so follow the examples when possible and fill out all required fields.

For example, the SM/SC workbook has six tabs, seen above. The Overview tab explains each section of the workbook before you begin. The remaining tabs are separated based on data and product types. Remember, each tab is formatted to optimize the data importing experience, and most contain tips to avoid data-entry pitfalls.

The SM/SC workbook is also a great example of the help text available throughout the configuration workbooks. Each set of red text seen above provides context on the data processing requirements for each column.

Once you have completed your workbook, you will return it to your CSM for submission. Configuration Workbook uploads have a turnaround time of around two-weeks to up to one month, depending on the product. To ensure the speediest turnaround time, double-check your work before submitting it to your CSM. Luckily, there’s a tool to help you!

From the Configuration Workbooks page (Config>Config Workbooks), you can Validate your file. This will alert you to any errors that need fixing. After correcting the errors, be sure to deliver the workbook to your CSM as you cannot submit the workbook yourself.

Once the Customer Success team has uploaded your Workbook, congratulations! Your data will now be in TraceGains. Going forward, you will add data and manage your current data directly in the site.
