Filtering your Data

What is data filtering?

This article highlights powerful shortcuts that help you quickly find the information that matters most at any given moment.

Pre-Filter Your Grid - Create User-Defined Dashboards or "UDDs"

Every column header on your grid has a filter box at the top (see image below). Enter your filtering criteria into the desired column header and hit Enter. Your grid will refresh with the limited or matching data in place. You can set multiple filters at the same time - the system will filter on all of them simultaneously.

Advanced Filtering Techniques

In the table-header fields, you can type the following options and hit the Enter key or the Filter button:

[Blank] (WITH brackets) will return results without values (empty cells).

  • Example: Typing "[Blank]" in the Description field will return only results without descriptions.

[Not Blank] will return only results with values in that column.

  • Example: Typing "[Not Blank]" in the Description field will return only results with descriptions.

(value) will return ONLY the exact value between the parentheses. Capitalization is ignored.

  • Example: Typing "(super soup)" will return any of "Super Soup""super Soup", or "super soup".

not:(value) will return results that do not match the value.

  • Example: Typing in "not:(supplier)" in the Name field will return results that are NOT named <supplier>.

notlike:(value) will return results that do not contain the value.

  • Example: Typing in "notlike:(artichoke)" in the Name field will return results that do not contain "artichoke" anywhere in the name.

Example

Let's put advanced filtering into action. For example, we want to filter our supplier data to show all connected dairy suppliers that need to be assigned a Supplier/Site Classification.

To get that information pulled up quickly, we’ve filtered our grid to display the following fields:

Connect > Connected

Supplier Group > Dairy

Supplier Site/Classification > [Blank]

As you can see, we’ve successfully filtered the results to show our connected supplier from the dairy Supplier Group, and that supplier does not yet have a classification.

Exporting the Grid

If you wish to export your data from a UDD, click 'Export' in the top-right corner.

Any filters you apply to your grid view will carry into your export.
