What are configurable columns?
A way for Formula Management customers to create simple data entry columns as part of a recipe that can include configurable calculations.
Why configure columns for calculations?
This feature gives FM customers the power to manage how calculations are configured based on the specific needs of their business.
Create a configurable data entry column
Step 1: Navigate to an existing formula.
Step 2: Select a recipe.
Step 3: Click 'Manage Columns' on the Items page.
Step 4: Click 'Create New'.
Step 5: Enter all the following information:
- Name
- Data Type:
- Float: Number with a decimal point
- Integer: Whole number
- Text: Letters & Numbers
- Show Total
- Treat as Percentage?
Step 6: Click 'Submit'.
Final Result:
Add a configured calculation to an existing data entry column
Step 1: Click 'Manage Columns' from the Items page of a recipe.
Step 2: Click the edit gear icon for the column being modified.
Step 3: Click '+Add'.
Step 4: Start building your expression by clicking 'Select Column' on the left-hand side.
Step 5: Choose an operator (mathematical task to perform).
Step 6: Select the second Column/Value. Continue building the mathematical expression by clicking '+Add' as needed.
The order of operations is a top-down approach. Pay attention to the 'Expression' line to verify that the order is correct.
Step 7: Choose a total option.
Step 8: Determine if this calculation applies to all formulas or just the formula being edited.
Step 9: Click 'Submit'.
Use an Existing Calculation as Part of Another Calculation
Step 1: Click 'Manage Columns' from the Items page of a recipe.
Step 2: Click the edit gear icon next to any configured column.
Default columns cannot be modified.
Step 3: Click '+Add'.
Step 4: Build mathematical expression as needed. All existing calculations will be included in the 'Select Column' dropdown lists.
Step 5: Determine whether this calculation applies to all formulas.
Step 6: Click 'Submit'.
