Automated CAR Workflows for an Audit allows users to streamline issue tracking and resolution by defining rules that trigger corrective actions automatically. This configuration process helps ensure consistent responses to quality events and reduces manual intervention.
The steps below illustrate a sample configuration. Your setup may look different depending on how your CAR tracestations and attributes are set up.
How to Configure an Automated CAR Workflow
Step 1: Go to Configuration > Workflows.
Step 2: Click New.
Step 3: On the Configuration sub-tab, fill in:
- Name - for example, 'Auto Generate Audit CAR'
- Use – select Audit
- Trigger – choose when it runs (e.g., On Record Update)
- Description – optional
Step 4: Once you are done, click Save.
Step 5: Before setting up your workflow conditions, make sure to create a text attribute—such as 'Generate CAR - Audit is Complete'. This attribute will serve as the trigger when the audit is finalized.
Refer to this article for instructions on creating a new attribute.
Once it’s ready, go back to your workflow setup.
Step 6: Watch this video to learn how to build the initial workflow step using your new attribute to trigger the next step when an audit is finalized.
Step 7: In this next short video, you’ll learn how to configure the second workflow step to trigger a CAR creation based on audit findings.
Step 8: Once you are done setting Conditions & Actions, click Save.
This workflow only creates the CAR record. It does not send the CAR to any recipients.
To test your workflow, use a test audit record to ensure your CAR is generating correctly.
