Overview
Packaging Specifications provide a centralized place to maintain information about individual packaging components.
Packaging Specifications use the same general specification framework as Raw Material and Finished Good specifications and are accessed from:
Specifications → Packaging
How to Create a Packaging Specification
Step 1: Go to Specifications > Packaging.
Step 2: Select New to begin creating a Packaging Specification.
Step 3: Select or Create an Item
In the Create window, choose how you want to associate an item with the Packaging Specification:
- Select Existing Item — Select this option if the packaging item already exists in TraceGains.
- Create New Item — Select this option if you need to create a new packaging item.
Select an Existing Item
Select Select Existing Item, then select the packaging item you want to associate with the specification.
Review the Specification Type and Version, then select Create.
Create a New Item
Select Create New Item, then complete the required item information:
- Item ID
- Item Name
- Group
- Share with all Partners
- Description, if applicable
Review the Specification Type and Version, then select Create.
Step 4: Complete the Packaging Specification
After creating the specification, complete the applicable sections and fields for the packaging component.
The sections and information available in your specification depend on the selected Specification Type and your site's configuration.
When you're finished making changes, select Save.
