U.S.A Labels

Overview

Formula Management provides USA labeling options to help you generate Nutrition Facts labels for products sold in the United States.

The available USA label formats vary based on the product and the nutrition information that needs to be displayed. After selecting a label format, you can review and customize available label options before downloading the completed label.

How to Access USA Label Formats

Step 1: Open the Formulas tab. Search for and select the formula you want to label.

Step 2: Select the Labeling sub-tab > Consumer Nutrition.

Step 3: Under Consumer Nutrition, select View for USA Label.

Choose a USA Label Format

The USA Label section provides different format options for displaying nutrition information.

When selecting a format, consider:

  • The available space on the package
  • The amount and type of nutrition information that needs to be displayed
  • Whether the product requires a standard or specialized label format
  • Applicable U.S. labeling requirements

Standard Label

Use the standard USA label format when the product can accommodate a traditional Nutrition Facts label.

Other Label Formats

Depending on the formula and labeling requirements, additional USA label formats may be available.

These formats can provide alternative layouts for products with limited package space or products that require different presentations of nutrition information.

Review the available options in Formula Management to select the format appropriate for your product.

USDA Labels

Formula Management also provides a USDA Label option for products subject to USDA labeling requirements.

USDA labeling requirements apply to certain meat and poultry products regulated by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Select the appropriate USDA label format based on the requirements applicable to your product.

Edit and Customize a USA Label

After selecting a USA label format, click Edit to customize the label.

The customization process includes six steps:

  1. Select — Select the nutrients and other label elements to include on the label.
  2. Display Options — Adjust available display and formatting options for the label.
  3. Edit — Make edits to applicable label text and other editable content.
  4. Footer — Review and edit available footer options for the label.
  5. Resize — Adjust the label dimensions to fit your packaging or design requirements.
  6. Preview — Review the completed label before downloading it.

The options available in each step depend on the selected label format.

After reviewing the label, you can download it as a PDF for printing or further design work.

Download the Label

When the label is complete, use the available download option to save the label as a PDF.

The PDF can be used for review, printing, or further design work as needed.

Note: Formula Management generates label information based on the formula and settings in the system. Review the completed label to ensure it accurately represents the product and meets applicable labeling requirements.
