Advance Notice: Upcoming Global Standards Updates
Overview/What’s New?
TraceGains is giving advance notice of the next phase of Global Standards, planned for broader external release in February 2027. It brings configurable forms for customers and TraceGains AI assistance for suppliers in Gather. The document title and description updates already released are the first step in this same initiative.
Who will use it?
Customers who configure document requests and the forms their suppliers complete, and suppliers who complete those forms in Gather.
What will change?
Nothing changes today. This is an advance notice only.
These are the new capabilities arriving in February 2027:
- Configurable forms Customers select the markets, industries, and product categories relevant to their business. What suppliers are asked follows that selection rather than a single fixed questionnaire. Customers can also adjust what their own team sees and add their own questions.
- TraceGains AI in Gather Suppliers upload documents they already possess, and the assistant drafts answers with a link to the source. Suppliers then review and submit. Nothing is automatically submitted. Existing document records, submitted documents, in process documents, document history, permissions, attachments and access are unaffected.
Benefit to users
Customers receive supplier information that is consistent across their supply base and requests which reflect their markets. Suppliers answer once and serve every connected customer instead of completing a variation or unique version for each. Further guidance will follow prior to the release, covering additional information regarding what is changing, what is not changing, and what to expect.
Enterprise
Multi-Select Attributes
Overview/What’s New?
A new multi-select attribute type will allow users to capture several predefined choices in a single attribute.
Who will use it?
Enterprise administrators configuring attributes and users completing TraceStation forms that require multiple selections.
What has changed?
Administrators will link each multi-select attribute to a value list without cascading. Users will select values using checkboxes in TraceStation, and database grids will display the selected values as a comma-delimited list.
The initial offering supports use in the user interface only; API and configuration workbook support are not included. Choices are configured through the linked value list rather than traditional business rule values. Most standard business rules do not apply, but the Is Required rule is enforced.
Benefit to users
Teams can capture multiple choices without maintaining a separate attribute for each choice. Overall, this update simplifies multi-value data entry and makes related selections easier to manage together.
Formula Management
U.S. Label Options
Overview/What’s New?
Additional U.S. nutrition-label display options will provide more product-specific presentation controls.
Who will use it?
Formula Management formulation and labeling teams preparing U.S. nutrition labels.
What has changed?
The planned options cover:
- Displaying percent Daily Value only for voluntary nutrients.
- Statements for cranberry products.
- Label treatment for single-ingredient sugars and syrups.
- Grams-to-ounces serving-size display.
- Milliliters-to-fluid-ounces serving-size display.
After changing an option, regenerate the label and inspect the edited version. Cranberry and single-ingredient sugar/syrup treatments address different product cases and use different statement locations. These presentation controls do not guarantee regulatory compliance.
Benefit to users
Teams can tailor label presentation to their products and make serving-size information easier to interpret. Overall, the update offers greater flexibility when preparing U.S. nutrition labels.
Guided Ingredient Declaration
Overview/What’s New?
A guided custom-declaration workflow is planned to bring declaration setup and review into one flow.
Who will use it?
Formula Management formulation and labeling teams preparing custom ingredient declarations.
What has changed?
The proposed flow brings naming, region and language selection, ingredient and allergen review, grouping and merging, and display choices together. The preview is not live: users must select Preview Declaration again after changing options.
The complete guided workflow is not confirmed for this release; the November increment and supported regions and languages remain to be confirmed.
Benefit to users
The planned experience brings key declaration decisions and the resulting statement together, reducing navigation between separate menus and dialogs.
Specification Management
AI-Assisted Specification Extraction
Overview/What’s New?
AI-assisted extraction will help users create new specifications or update existing specifications by extracting document values into configured specification TraceStation attributes.
Who will use it?
Specification Management users who create or update specifications, with TraceGains AI enabled for their company or site and the applicable AI entitlement.
What has changed?
Users can upload a document or select an available supplier-item document, review the extracted fields, correct or reprocess values as needed, and apply selected values. Users must then save the specification separately to record the changes in the audit trail.
Extraction starts with the TraceStation attributes configured for the selected specification type. Separate AI settings and item-specific templates are optional. Item-specific template settings take precedence over specification-type AI settings, which take precedence over TraceStation configuration. Reprocess after changing extraction settings to obtain updated results.
Users can start from New on the Specifications tab, Import from Document on an existing specification, specification associations on an item, or the specification header on an Item Supplied record. Item-level document selection lets users choose a supplier and a document attached to that supplier-item record; Item Supplied limits selection to the current supplier-item record. Manual specification creation remains available.
Compare extracted values with the source document and existing TraceStation values before applying them. Apply remains disabled while invalid values are selected. Correct, reprocess, or deselect those values before applying the valid selections.
Processing takes time and may not find every value. Data Sheet fields are not extracted. Enable TraceGains AI replaces the former Supplier Management AI-processing toggle; instances with that toggle already enabled retain enablement.
Benefit to users
Teams can reduce manual data entry while retaining control over the information saved. Overall, this update uses existing specification configuration to support document-based creation and updates with human review.
Specification Data Sheet Redirect
Overview/What’s New?
A Data Sheet redirect is planned to take item users to the related specification Data Sheet.
Who will use it?
Users managing items, specifications, Data Sheet information, and specification exports.
What has changed?
Users will be able to suppress the first-use explanation and access Data Sheet version history. Internal specification exports can include selected Data Sheet sections and claims, with empty fields omitted.
These sections and claims are not automatically included in the attachment generated when sharing a specification. The closer link between items and specifications is not bidirectional synchronization: the current compare import pulls information into the specification. Availability depends on enablement and configuration.
Benefit to users
Teams gain a clearer destination for specification Data Sheet information and more control over internal exports. Overall, this update helps users access related specification information while distinguishing internal exports from shared attachments.
NutriCalc
U.S. Label Options
Overview/What’s New?
Additional U.S. nutrition-label display controls are planned to give NutriCalc users more flexibility when customizing label presentation.
Who will use it?
NutriCalc users creating or revising U.S. nutrition labels.
What has changed?
The planned options cover:
- Displaying percent Daily Value only for voluntary nutrients.
- Statements for cranberry products.
- Added sugars treatment for single-ingredient sugars and syrups.
- Grams-to-ounces serving-size display.
- Milliliters-to-fluid-ounces serving-size display.
Regenerate the label after changing options and inspect the edited result. Cranberry and single-ingredient sugar/syrup treatments apply to alternative product cases with different statement placement. Review the applicable layout and footnote wording; these display controls are not compliance certification.
Benefit to users
Users can tailor nutrition-label presentation and improve serving-size readability. Overall, this update provides more product-specific control when preparing U.S. nutrition labels.
