How to Access and Use Carbon Insights

Before You Begin

Carbon Insights relies on supplier and item data already managed in TraceGains.

Before accessing Carbon Insights, confirm that required supplier and item data is available. The checklist image below highlights the supplier and item data used to generate carbon assessments, including required item information such as Country of Origin.

Access Carbon Insights in Supplier Records

Supplier‑level carbon indicators are available within supplier records. 
 
Step 1: Go to Supplier Management and select the Suppliers tab.
 
Step 2: Click the Edit icon for the supplier you want to view.
 
Step 3: In the left‑hand navigation pane, select ESG Metrics.
 
The ESG Metrics section displays carbon‑related indicators and sustainability attributes associated with the supplier.

Access Carbon Insights in Item Supplied Records

Item‑level carbon footprints are available within Item Supplied sustainability reports.
 
Step 1: Go to Supplier Management and select the Items Supplied tab.
 
Step 2: Click the Edit icon for the item you want to view.
 
Step 3: In the left‑hand navigation pane, scroll to Sustainability and select it to view the report.
 
The Sustainability report displays the baseline product carbon footprint for the supplied item alongside other sustainability information.

Use Carbon Insights to Support Decisions

Once accessed, Carbon Insights data can be used alongside other TraceGains data to inform sustainability and procurement activities.

Teams commonly use Carbon Insights to:

  • Compare suppliers using carbon‑related indicators
  • Identify higher‑impact items or materials
  • Highlight potential carbon hotspots across suppliers or categories
  • Support sourcing and supplier engagement decisions

Carbon Insights values appear as attributes and can be incorporated into existing workflows, dashboards, and reports.

Where Carbon Insights Data Is Available

Carbon Insights data is surfaced across multiple areas of TraceGains, including:

  • Supplier records (shown above in Access Carbon Insights in Supplier Records)
  • Item Supplied records (shown above in access Carbon Insights in Item Supplied Records)
  • User Defined Dashboards

Carbon Insights values are returned as attributes and can be used alongside other sustainability data in dashboards, filters, and workflows.
